3 pp., in folio; handwritten (by an health officer, prisoner);Handwritten letter, in french, Port Malri aux Dardanelles, 20.1.1800. from Saidaley Bey Algerin, head of one of the ottoman squadrons, reporting to Sidney Smith that on his way to meet him ('dear friend and zealous cooperator against our common enemy') he got mail ordering him and all turkish squadrons in the Mediterranean sea to get immediately to Constantinople, not knowing why, and a letter to be delivered to Smith himself which he sends herewith (not included here);
