copied in 889/1484 by ʿAlī Riḍā al-Kātib probably in Herat, who might have contributed to one or more of the four miniatures. 79 leaves

فارسي مثنوي لنور الدين عبد الرحمن بن أحمد الجامي النقشبندي المتوفى 18 محرم 898 هجري / 1492، فرغ منه في رمضان 886 هجري / 1481.
نسخة إيرانية مزوقة فاخرة كتبت سنة 889 هجري / 1484 على يد على رضاء (= رضاى) الكاتب بهراة غالباً، يظهر أنه مصور المنمنمات أيضاً؛ 79 ورقة إيرانية، 182:275 ملم؛ كراسات رباعية؛ سرلوحة واحدة؛ نقشت جميع الهوامش بنقش ذهبي "صيني"؛ صفحة 1ب-2أ، 78ب-79أ: أربع منمنمات فاخرة، نرى في ثالثها سلطاناً حاضراً لعبة الپولو وفوق تخته كتابة: "[سنة] 889 هجري / 1484 السلطان پادشاه اسلام ابو الغازى حسين سلطان بهادر كوركانى خلد الله [ملكه]" أي أن تأريخ النسخ يوافق تأريخ التصوير؛ جلدة شمسية منحوتة ومنقوشة.
صفحة2ب: العنوان: "كتاب سحر حلال"(!) ولم يقع في النسخة اسم "تحفة الاحرار" كما أنه لم يذكره في الخاتمة النثرية: "... واتمام انتظام اين سبحه(!) در .. شهر تراويح در سلك شهور سنة \886 هجري/ 1481\ .."، لعل الناسخ قد ترك اسم الكتاب عمداً لأسباب سياسية، إذ إن تسميته تحفة الأحرار ترجع إلى اسم الشيخ عبيد الله نقشبندي المشهور بخواجه احرار، أو أنه في زمن تأريخ نسختنا لم يعرف بعنوان تحفة الأحرار بعد.

إن كتابة نسختنا هذه وتزويقها وتصويرها قد تمت في نحو ثلاث سنوات بعد التأليف، وثمان سنوات وأربعة أشهر قبل وفاة المؤلف. أما بالنسبة للناسخ فقارن: Stchoukine, I. Les peintures des manuscrits de Shah ʿAbbas 1er a la fin des Safavis. Paris, 1964, p. 45 حيث يرفض راي ا. سميونوف أن كاتب النسخة الموجودة في طاشكند ومصورها سنة 976 هجري / 1568 "على رضا الكاتب" انما هو الخطاط المشهور علي رضاى عباسي (راجع: A. A. Semenov. Sobranie vostochnykh rukopisei Akademii Nauk Uzbekskoi SSR. (Catalogue of the Oriental Manuscripts of the Academy of Sciences of the Uzbekistan SSR). Tashkent, 1952–1971. 11 vols II, no. 1325- باللغة الروسية)، بيد أننا لا نشك أنه ناسخ نسختنا هذه ومصورها أيضاً)، فيجوز أن نسختنا من النسخ المهداة إلى السلطان حسين پيقرا التيموري (878 هجري / 1473 -913 هجري/ 1507) إذ إن المنمنمة الثالثة تصوره جالساً على تخت الملك وهو يحضر لعبة پولو.
