  • עמנואל עמירן חיבר שני לחנים לשיר זה, אחד לפני 1938 והשני בשנת 1942. שני הלחנים נכללו בהצגה "האדמה הזאת" מאת אהרן אשמן משנת 1942.
    לפי הדעה המקובלת, הלחן המאוחר יותר נוצר כריקוד עם בקיבוץ דגניה ב' לכבוד אירועי שמחת בית השואבה. הצעד הבסיסי בריקוד (צעדת היסוד שיכול-חילוף) נמצא גם בריקוד של רבקה שטורמן "הגורן" והריקוד "הבו לנו יין"

    באותה תקופה נמצאו שם מים לאחר חיפוש בן שבע שנים. עד היום, מחוץ לישראל, הצעד הבסיסי מכונה "צעד מים" (Mayim step‏), והוא דומה לצעד הגפן (grapevine step‏) המוכר בריקודי עמים.
