	יִשְׁטְפוּ פַּלְגֵי הַדְּמָעוֹת מֵעֵינֵי כָּל בְּנֵי הָעָם. יִנְהֲרוּ פַּלְגֵי הַדָּם מִלִּבּוֹתֵיהֶם נִדְכָּאוֹת. כֻּלָּם יִקָּווּ לְעֵת קֵץ וְעָלוּ לְאֶרֶץ יְהוּדָה וְהִשְׁקוּ אַדְמָתָהּ הַשְּׁדוּדָה וְהִפְרוּ כָּל תֶּלֶם, כָּל עֵץ... וְדוֹר חָדָשׁ כִּי יָקוּם שָׁמָּה, דּוֹר כַּבִּיר חַיִּים וֶאֱיָל, רַעֲנָן כְּצִיץ מָלֵא טַל, חָפְשִׁי כַּנֶּשֶׁר בָּרָמָה. וְחָיָה בְּצִיּוֹן עַם חַי, יַעֲבֹד וְיִזְרַע אַדְמָתָהּ - וְצָבַר אָז חֵילָהּ וְנָשָׂא תְּבוּאוֹת וּפְרִי עַד בְּלִי דַּי.

	השיר נכתב לאחר מותו של הרצל בשנת 1904 והושר כמעט בכל אירוע של אבל ביישוב במשך עשרות שנים. מלחין השיר חנינא קרצ'בסקי התאבד בגיל 49 בשנת 1925. בהלוויה שרו מעל קברו את השיר הזה יחד עם שיר נוסף שלו "הידעו הדמעות". השיר נכלל בין הקטעים שבסדר הפסח בקיבוץ יגור, בעריכתו של יהודה שרת. (מתוך זמרשת).
