מחבר השיר היה חבר קיבוץ עין חרוד בין השנים 1925-1942 ופעיל בעיצוב החג הקיבוצי. לאחר עזיבתו את הקיבוץ הקים את מפעלי התרבות וחינוך והיה פעיל במשך עשרים שנה. שיר זה פורסם, בין השאר, בספר "לשבת", הוצאת המרכז לתרבות, תל-אביב, 1948.
