As a result, the Mellah (a walled Jewish quarter of a city in Morocco, an analogue of the European ghetto) was destroyed. Houses and shops were burnt; Jews were deprived of their possessions (jewels, pieces of furniture, crockery, clothes...). This postcard shows the result of this tragic event. We can see the destroyed main street of the Mellah (a walled Jewish quarter of a city in Morocco, an analogue of the European ghetto) of Fes, the ruins of the houses on both sides. Several people, traditionally dressed, are walking along this demolished street and cross one of the Gate of the Mellah that we can see in the background.
