Photographs are printed in a book with a printed description beneath in French printed description: "A la suite du vaste mouvement vers les Saints Lieux, entrepris par les pèlerinages de Pénitence en 1882, la difficulté de loger les pélerins poussa les directeurs du pèlerinage à compléter leur grand acte de foi par une vaste hôtellerie. Commencé en 1886, l'établissement de Notre-Dame d France grandit peu à peu. Au Congrès eucharistique de 1893, le cardinal Langénieux, légat du Saint-Siège, bénit solennellement la première pierre de l'église qui, un an plus tard, était livrée au culte, et, cette année même, le Saint-Père lui accordait les mêmes indulgences qu'au tombeau de la Vierge. L'église occupe le centre du bâtiment, on en voit le chevel. Dans le cours de l'année, l'hôtellerie donne asile à un groupe de religieux de l'Assomption, qui viennent y étudier la théologie et l'Écriture Sainte. Bien que située en dehors des murs de la ville, Notre-Dame de France est cependant toute proche du Saint-Sépulcre." Initials "B+P" are handwritten in a corner of the photograph. Quality: Good |
