Photograph is printed in a book with a description beneath in French and English printed description: " n descendant de la fontaine, on arrive au village de Liftah, dont les maisons sont bâties en amphithéâtre sur une pente exposée au couchant. Le torrent qui passe au bas, en dont on aperçoit les sinuosites à gauche, est le même qui passe à Kolonieh et à Saint-Jean en arrivant dans la plaine, il prend le nom de Ouady-Sourar: c'est le torrent de Sorec des Livres Saints. Au delà de Liftah, on aperçoit sur la hauteur le village de Beth-Iksa, et au point culminant la mosquée de Néby-Samouïl, le prophète Samuel. C'est l'ancienne Gabaon. Cette vue donne bien l'aspect accidenté et dévasté des environs de Jérusalem." Initials "B+P SC" are printed at lower left corner. Quality: Good |
