Photograph is printed in a book with a description beneath printed description: "(Matthew, vi: 28).--No more appropriate place can be found for calling attention to flowers than in Palestine. It must have been in the spring of the year, when the flowers are in their glory in the Holy Land, that Christ, from the Mount of Beatitudes, said : 'Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow they toil not, neither do they spin, and yet I say unto you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.' There is a depth of color, a joyousness and gayety of bloom about the flowers of Palestine not to be seen in any other part of the world. They hide the soil and light up the mountains with their multitudinous hues. In the springtime the beauty of the flowers makes one forget the desolation and poverty of the people."
