Photographs are printed in a book with a printed description beneath in French printed description: "Comme on peut juger par cette photographie, le couvent se compose d'une foule de terrasses à côté ou au-dessus les unes des autres. Les rayons du soleil y sont fortement réverbérés par les rochers et les murs. Il y a dans un des jardins un palmier planté, dit-on, par saint Sabas, et qui, au dire des moines, produirait des dattes sans noyaux. La grotte du Saint existe encore on montre à côté la caverne du Lion. La légende raconte que saint Sabas, rentrant un jour, y trouva un lion. Ni l'homme ni la bête ne s'émurent de cette rencontre et vécurent paisiblement ensemble."
