Mapping of factors likely to affect decision-making among experts in the field of date thinning

This research, funded by the Israeli agricultural ministry, explores the judgments and decisions of eight expert-growers managing large Medjoul-dates plantations. It aims to identify and characterize decision factors in the critical period of the cultivation cycle, the thinning phase, using three methods: knowledge elicitation, comparative judgments, and bag of words. Three factors were hypothesized to affect thinning decisions: (I) Fruit-loss due to weather conditions, (II) Managing a large plantation and (III) Fruit counting. -- From the abstract
