"השנה 1914. נער בן 14 מילדי המושבה הצעירה כנרת מתגנב מביתו בחשכת הליל במטרה נשגבת להגיע לירושלים על מנת לחזות במו עיניו בנחיתתו של מטוס טורקי מהשמים. כדי לממש את חלומו הוא עובר סדרה של הרפתקאות וחוויות מסעירות, וכל זאת כדי להגיע כמטחווי מישוש הפלא הטכנולוגי שהטריף את דעתם של תושבי הארץ באותם ימים רחוקים! מאה שנים מאוחר יותר יוצא נכדו ארז, טייס קרב בחיל האויר, למסע הרפתקאות משלו כדי להתחקות אחר מסלול החתחתים שעבר סבו, אותו לא הכיר מעודו. במהלך ניסיונותיו לאתר בטורקיה את עקבות הטייס שנחת בירושלים מפגיש אותו גורלו עם נינו של אותו חלוץ תעופה, שבאופן מפתיע גם הוא טייס קרב בחיל האויר הטורקי... בין השניים מתפתחת ידידות יוצאת דופן העוברת גם לבניהם המתבגרים. בראש וראשונה זהו ספר על האהבה למעוף, לטיסה, לנסיקה לגבהים. מאה שנים עברו על האנושות – ואיזו התפתחות טכנולוגית כבירה! אבל דבר אחד לא השתנה וזהו ערך הידידות העובר כחוט השני לאורך עלילת הספר"-- מן המעטפת האחורית.
