"במחזותיו של גלעד עברון נמצא הזרה מקרבת בין האמירה לבין האסתטיקה, וקשר מעמיק ומקורי בין העיצוב הדרמטי המוקפד של עלילה, דמויות ונסיבות חברתיות ופוליטיות לבין הפן האישי, המכוון בחלקו לעצמו. אצל עברון האישי הוא פוליטי וגם אמנותי: תאטרון כחלופה לחיים. הוא נמנע מיפיוף, סגנונו תכליתי ושולף מהעברית בדיוק את מה שיש לו לומר. לא פחות, אף פעם לא יותר. שפתו לעתים מתחזה לפשוטה אך הקצב משתנה. כך, בשליטה מרחיקה, הוא מפרק את המובן מאליו במציאות ומאפשר התבוננות, מזמין מבט מוסרי ויוצר שקט הנחוץ כאן כאוויר אמנותי לנשימה. "תאטרון יכול להיות המון דברים, אבל קודם כל הוא מוכרח להיות תאטרון. והדרך לבדוק את זה היא לשאול מה יש בו ואפשרי ונכון רק לתאטרון ולא לשום מדיום אחר". דון קיחוטה של עברון מספר, שעל מנת לראות יש להעז, על מנת להילחם ברשע צריך לעשות מעשה. מחזותיו של עברון הם המעשה שלו." -- מן המעטפת האחורית.
