"בהגדה שלנו שימרנו ואף חיזקנו את המסר המקורי, מסר של יציאה מעול עבדות לחרות אישית וכללית גם יחד. הוספנו אליה טקסטים שנכתבו על ידי אנשים חכמים בתקופתנו. אולי תתהו על כך, אבל דומני שרבים מאתנו חשים מחוברים יותר למנהיגים, יוצרים, הוגים ומתקני עולם בני זמננו, החל מג'ורג' אליוט, ר' יהודה הלוי ונפתלי הרץ אימבר, עבור דרך לאה גולדברג, נעמי שמר ונתן אלתרמן וכלה בבנימין זאב הרצל, זאב ז'בוטינסקי, ברל כצנלסון ודוד בן גוריון. ההגדה שלנו בנויה מארבעה שערים, כנגד ארבעת הבנים של ההגדה המסורתית: שער האביב, שער יציאת מצרים, שער שיבת ציון ושער הציונות ומדינת ישראל. כמו שאמרנו, פסח אינו רק חג של עם העוזב ארץ אחת והולך לארץ אחרת, אלא גם חג של ניצחון התחייה המדינית והרוחנית. ומבחינתנו, שתי תקופות התחייה הנוספות שעברו על עם ישראל אינן חשובות פחות מיציאת מצרים עצמה"-- מן האתר של הספר.
