"סיפורו של אהרון ידלין, פרי עטה של רוני כוכבי-נהב, רואה אור לבקשתו. כל פרק בסיפור הוא גם פרק חשוב בתולדות הארץ והמדינה. את שנותיו הראשונות עשה במושב הזעיר בן-שמן, בן להורים חלוצי העלייה השלישית. ילדותו עברה עליו במושבה רחובות ואת שנות נעוריו עשה בחיפה, שם הצטרף לתנועת הצופים שבה היה פעיל שנים רבות. כבן שש-עשרה נשבה ברעיון החברתי הגדול של הקיבוץ ונשאר נאמן לו עד היום כחבר קיבוץ. מסע חייו עובר בין תחנות שכולן בסימן פעילותו הציבורית ... בשליחותו הציבורית הענפה היה חבר כנסת, סגן שר החינוך, מזכ"ל מפלגת העבודה מ-1972 ובימי מלחמת יום הכיפורים, שר החינוך והתרבות בממשלת יצחק רבין הראשונה. לאחר המהפך כיהן כיו"ר ועדת החינוך של הכנסת, ואחר כך שימש מזכיר התק"ם בימי משבר הקיבוצים. תפקידו הממלכתי האחרון היה יו"ר תנועת העבודה הציונית העולמית שבו כיהן שתי קדנציות. ב-2010 הוענק לאהרון ידלין פרס ישראל על מפעל חיים". -- מעטפת אחורית.
