"אני הייתי סתם עוד נרקומן, עבריין. לא ככה רציתי ללכת. אף אחד כבר לא יבין שבסך הכול רציתי משהו טוב. רציתי אהבה וכסף, רציתי לחיות כמו שהיא רצתה שנחיה. זה נתן לי מוטיבציה ורצון עז להוכיח ולהצליח, וכל מה שהצלחתי היה להרוס לחברים שלי את החיים, לרמוס את נשמתה ואת גופה של זאת שאני אוהב יותר מהחיים עצמם, ולהביא את עצמי למקום שבו אני נמצא עכשיו, מתבוסס בדמי ומחכה לפגישה עם בורא עולם. בשנת 1999, כשהוא בן 27, גומלת בלבו של איגי ההחלטה לפרוץ את הבועה שבתוכה חולפים חייו ללא אחיזה ממשית במציאות. בשם האהבה הוא יוצא למסע אישי ספק ממשי ספק הזוי, רווי סמים, כאבים ופושעים ענקיים שמגיחים היישר מתוך הסיוטים. בדרך אל הגאולה, שבה הוא מאמין בכל לבו עד לרגעיו האחרונים ממש (וכנראה גם אחריהם), הוא מבין דבר או שניים על החיים, אבל בעיקר הוא מבין שהם עלולים להיות מאוד קצרים ומאוד מאוד מחורבנים אם נולדת להורים הלא נכונים" -- מן המעטפת האחורית.
