התערוכה ... בוחנת את הזהות המרוקאית כפי שהיא באה לידי ביטוי בעבודותיהם של אמנים ישראלים מהגרים ובני מהגרים ממרוקו ... שנים האחרונות אנו עדים לתופעה מתעצמת של הבלטת הקול והזהות המזרחיים בתרבות הישראלית. התופעה הזו מתגלה בשירה, בקולנוע, בספרות, במוסיקה וכן באמנות. במקביל, מתקיים דיון ער בשאלה מהי אמנות מזרחית והאם היא קיימת בכלל. על כן, הרלוונטיות של התערוכה "חרוזים שבורים" גדולה היום יותר מתמיד. השפה החזותית המוצגת בתערוכה מבקשת לחדד את הלגיטימיות של האמנות המזרחית ופותחת פתח לקולות האישיים-הפרטניים המגוונים שבה. התערוכה מציגה גישות שונות של מהגרים או בני מהגרים ממרוקו וחושפת שפה מורכבת וסבוכה, מגוונת, עשירה וישירה. העבודות עוסקות בזהות המרוקאית השסועה ופוסחות בין מבט נוסטלגי הפונה אל העבר ואל הבית, לבין מבט הפונה אל העתיד ואל זהות חדשה, היברידית ומורכבת. - מתוך אתר אוניברסיטת בן גוריון בנגב
