"שנות לידתו של עולם התקשורת והפרסום בחיפה הן שנות ילדותו ונעורתו של יעקב שחם. תקופת התעצמותם של המקומונים ומשרדי הפרסום חופפת לתקופת כניסתו של שחם לעולם מרתק ודינמי זה. שחם, משרדי הפרסום והמקומונים גדלים זה בצד זה, פורצים, חווים קשיים והישגים, מתמודדים עם אתגרים וממשיכים הלאה. בבועה התקשורתית החיפאית האינטימית, שבה כולם מכירים את כולם, שזורים החוטים לבלי התר. על ציר זמן שנפרש לאורך חמישים שנה כמעט נכיר את משרדי הפרסום הראשונים, את המקומונים ואת האנשים שפעלו בזירה: "בינג-ליניאל" - עם הפרסומאים המייסדים יונה (ג'וני) בינג ושמעון ליניאל; זכריה פריליך - מייסד "שפי"; טדי אינס ושלמה תל - מייסדי העיתון "כלבו"; מוטק'ה לבנון-– עורכם של העיתונים "כלבו", "קול חיפה" ו"ידיעות חיפה"; דני נשליס - מייסדו של "רדיו חיפה"; יהושע לניאדו - שממשרד קטן גדל וצמח למשרד פרסום גדול; עובד ניר ושלמה לונדון - מקימי רשת מקומונים בקריות ובצפון; ואחרון חביב, פרופ' גבי וימן - ממקימיו של החוג לתקשורת באוניברסיטת חיפה. זהו סיפורם של אנשי מקצוע, חברים של שחם, וכן סיפור חייו של שחם, שאבני הדרך בו מסמנות מסלול ארוך - מאז ילדותו באלכסנדריה ועד היום"--מן המעטפת האחורית.
