"שבועיים לאחר קבלת 'תוכנית החלוקה' באו"ם התפנו הכוחות הבריטיים מתל-אביב. המחנה הצבאי הבריטי שהוקם במושבה הטמפלרית שרונה והותקף בידי לוחמי המחתרות, הפך בפרוץ מלחמת העצמאות לבסיס הגיוס המרכזי של ארגון 'ההגנה'. בפברואר 1948 נקבע שהמתחם ישמש כמקום מושבה הארעי של הממשלה, ושמו נקרא - הקריה ... בספר מתוארת התפתחות הקריה בשנים 1948-1955 ומנותחים התהליכים ההיסטוריים שהשפיעו אחל תולדותיה - הכרזת העצמאות וכינון הרשויות הממלכתיות של מדינת ישראל, גידול האוכלוסין והמקרקעין בתל-אביב-יפו, פינוי מחנות צה"ל מהמרחב העירוני והצבת מחנה המטכ"ל בפברואר 1955 בקריה". -- כריכה אחורית.
