Memoirs of a Jew (née Merke Shevah) born ca. 1927 in Białystok, describing the German occupation in 1941 and life in the ghetto, where she was interned with her parents and sister. Her father was killed there in 1942. In August 1943, after some resistance, the ghetto was liquidated and Miriam's mother and sister were killed. Miriam was sent with other young girls to Majdanek; many of those in her cattle car committed suicide on the way. She was then sent to the Bliżyn labor camp, Auschwitz, and a labor camp in Czechoslovakia, where she was liberated. She emigrated to Israel in 1949.
