Memoirs describing the Jewish resistance movement in the Vilna region between 1943-44. Recalls underground activities in the Vilna ghetto until its liquidation, as well as attempts to rescue from destruction the treasures of Jewish culture in the city. Relates his flight along with other resisters to the forests and the organization of partisan groups which fought the Germans until the liberation. Stresses the collaboration of the Lithuanian population with the Nazis.
