Pp. 3-9 contain two brief essays by Batya Pupka and Mordechai Bernstein on a cemetery in Schömberg in western Germany, where 1,755 inmates, among them 780 Jews, from the nearby labor camp were buried in 1945. Bernstein recounts how he, in 1950-51, received lists of all those who perished in Schömberg between 1944-45. Their corpses were thrown into a field and buried only after the French arrived, on their command. Each grave was decorated with a cross, although among the victims there were 337 Jews from Vilnius and 48 from villages in the Vilnius district. Their names are listed on pp. 10-22. The ill-reputed Schömberg camp was a subcamp of Natzweiler; petrol was produced there from minerals found in the area.
