The first polyglot Bible. Edited by a team of scholars headed by Diego López de Zuñiga. Produced under the patronage and at the expense of Cardinal Francisco Ximenes de Cisneros. Title page of each volume bears the coat of arms of Cardinal Ximenes. Calf leather binding with panel blind tooled, stamped with decorative ornaments and a stamped center panel. "Vetus Testamentu[m] multiplici lingua nu[n]c primo impressum :et imprimis Pentateuchus Hebraico Greco atq[ue] Chaldaico idiomate : adiu[n]cta vnicuiq[ue] sua latina interpretatione"--T.p. of v. 1. O.T. generally arranged as follows: Hebrew text in outside col. (with Heb. roots in the margin), Vulgate in the middle col. & Septuagint in the inside col. (with an interlinear Latin trans.) N.T. is printed in two cols., Greek on the left & Vulgate on the right.
