Enlarge text Shrink text

A new edition of Jabotinsky's last book, first published in 1940. Discusses the situation of Polish Jews under Nazi occupation, warning of the Nazi extermination policy. Pleads for the inclusion of combat against this danger in the war aims and decisions of the Allies, as well as for the creation of a Jewish Army within the Allied Forces. Summarizes his opinions on antisemitism, making a distinction between the "antisemitism of men, " based on racial and morbid hatred (which dominates German and especially Nazi antisemitism) and the "antisemitism of things" (exemplified in Poland), provoked by economic and political circumstances. Discussing various plans for Jewish large-scale emigration from Eastern Europe to Palestine, focuses on the Allies' policy toward Jewish refugees and the failure of the Evian Conference. Pp. 265-296 contain a short biography of Jabotinsky (1880-1940) by Charles Shapiro.
