Enlarge text Shrink text

Describes the political ideology of the Austrian Cartellverband (CV), a federation of Catholic fraternities at Austrian universities, after the First World War. Though conservative and nationalistic, the CV opposed Nazism because of its hostility to the Church, and carried on illegal activities during the Anschluss. Pp. 45-48 discuss the organization's deep-seated antisemitism. (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism - The Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
