Memoirs of a Jew (nee Gerda Berlowitz) born in Berlin in 1923. Pp. 48-84 deal with the period 1938-42. In 1936 Weil and her older brother were sent to a German Jewish school in Firenze. Bill remained in Italy and emigrated from there to Cuba in 1938. Weil returned to Berlin in 1938. In May 1941 she was taken for forced labor in a factory in Berlin. In January 1942 she married, and the couple escaped to Sweden in December 1942. Weil's parents were deported to Theresienstadt, where they died. Weil divorced her husband in Sweden, and went to work for the World Jewish Congress. After the war, she went to Paris and worked for Youth Aliyah. In February 1948 she emigrated to Palestine and married Yosef Weil, a "shaliach" who she met in Paris.
