Die Karlstadter Juden unter dem Hakenkreuz

Enlarge text Shrink text

Chronicles the impact of Nazi anti-Jewish measures on the 47 Jews of Karlstadt (Lower Franconia). Most of them were not seriously affected until the Aryanizations of 1938 which caused many Jews to emigrate. Describes the destruction and looting of Jewish property in the "Kristallnacht" pogrom. At the beginning of the war, Jews who had not emigrated (mostly the elderly) moved to Würzburg, and from there were deported to concentration camps. An appendix (17 pp.) contains facsimiles of documents. (From the Bibliography of the Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism - The Hebrew University of Jerusalem)
