GL was born in 1913 in Lodz, Poland. GL lived together with her twin sister in Lodz until the outbreak of World War II. The sisters were then confined to the ghetto. After the liquidation of the ghetto in September 1944, they were deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp. They were submitted to medical experiments carried out by Dr. Josef Mengele and his staff. In 1945, during the death march from Auschwitz to the concentration camp, Ravensbrück, she witnessed the escorting Germans shoot her sister. In Ravensbruck, GL was locked in the penalty block (Strafblock) until her transfer to Neustadt/Glewe concentration camp. She was liberated by the Red Army in May 1945 and returned to Lodz where she met her brothers who had survived, as well. In 1950, GL immigrated to Israel.
