A psychiatrist relates the case of a patient in London. M was the son of Holocaust survivors. He was 22 years old at the time he was in treatment. He had a degree in Russian literature from Oxford University and was studying for his doctorate in psycholinguistics at London University. He was sent to treatment by his parents as he had no friends and was clearly disturbed. The psychiatrist talks about his relationship with his parents, his study of Russian as a search for his ancestry, his eczema and his psychotic fantasies and rages. When the psychiatrist was due to go on vacation, M was referred to a colleague but he became disorientated and confused searching for his house and was admitted into a psychiatric hospital and later at Tavistock Clinic.
