Iwan Gabriel Lilienfeld was born on 06/03/1910 in Rybnik (Upper Silesia). Studied law in Freiburg, junior lawyer's examination, doctoral thesis in 1932. After he was expelled from civil service in 1933 he emigrated together with the family of his fellow student and finacée first from Berlin to Italy and Netherlands, and in 1935 to Palestine. Some interim jobs, e. g. as panel beater. New profession as a journalist, later editor in chief of the (German language) newspaper “Jediot Chadashot” and contributor to the magazine of the “Irgun Olej Merkas Europa”. ; Lilienfeld's life in Germany: Introductory remark about his pseudonym as a journalist.- About his home and childhood in Upper Silesia after World War I, and their flight to the German part of Silesia. (His father came from Lippstadt/Westphalia). The tensions of his life between Poland and Germany; his schools. His youth and his student days in Freiburg, Munich and Berlin. Emigration to Italy and later Holland together with his future parents in law (with details about their professional chances in fascist Italy). Reasons for their decision to go to Palestine. His parents' fate (deportation in 1942). Lilienfeld's life in Palestine/Israel as journalist, with detailed general informations about the German-language newspapers: ; About his first jobs in Palestine and his problems concerning the Hebrew language. His activities for newspapers in German language. Analysis of the conditions for German-language newspapers in Israel (see also 234 (131), 234(137)). Description how he grew into the Hebrew culture.
