Born 12/28/1905, Katowice. Education: high school, trade school, study of medicine, 1934/34 carpenter training (Hachshara). Emigration: 1933 flight to Paris, Bologna, 1934 return to Kattowitz, 1935 Palestine. Career: carpenter in Haifa, Jerusalem, accident in 1936 from then office work, "Ford Company" in Jerusalem, 42 years branch manager, retirement with 68; scientific bibliographer at University-clinic. Finished his medicine studies in the meantime. Interview: Biographical data about his childhood and youth. Parents owned a hotel in Kattowitz. 5 semesters in Halle, then Cologne. About his siblings. Anti-Semitic experiences in Cologne, left over night and fled to Paris. Found work, went to Bologna with two friends. Stayed with a rich Jewish family and nursed an old family member. One of the daughters wanted to marry him, but he already knew he was going to marry his wife. Married 01/01/1935. They emigrated on the day of the wedding. Found work immediately in Palestine, good salary. Wife was a hat maker and had enough work. Partnership with a boutique owner. Accident: he broke his spine and had to quit his job. One year in a wheel chair then job with "Ford Motor Company". Further career, 40 years with Ford. After retirement work for Triumph. Sickness and surgeries. Interest in Medicine woke again and he volunteered to work for a Professor. Organized a library for the hospital. Graduated in Medicine at the age of 75. About the meaning of work for his life, age, hobbies, ; Rotary-Club. Interest for the East. Sen-Buddhism and travels to Japan. 2 sons. Knows Japanese. Knows Hebrew well. With their children they spoke German. Arabic friends. No religious education. Identifies with the idea of Zionism. Doesn't know enough about Judaism. Considers himself an absolute atheist. Religious lessons in school. 3 Jews in his class. Many friends in school. Adjusting to Israel. His parents had a Zionist touch. Thinks that he would have achieved more in Germany. His mother and his wife's family died in Auschwitz. How he got the certificate for his mother but couldn't get one for his mother in law. Brother immigrated illegally. Sister lived in St. Gallen and had to go to the USA. His sister's family. Why he did not join a Kibbutz. About his work. About a project about hospitals in Jerusalem in the 19th Century and a dissertation by a German doctor.
