Born 12/24/1919, Berlin. Jewish private school, Kleist girl's high school, 1 year of schooling in Palestine, vocational training, emigrated to Palestine in August 1934 with her mother (on a ship to Haifa) Father emigrated 1933. 1936 apprenticeship as shop assistant, work in a department store. 3½ years in the British Army R.A.F. Egypt, then work in the meteorological station in Jerusalem. 2½ years with United Airlines. Return to Israel: work in a arts and crafts shop. Director of the permanent exportsale exhibition "Jerusalem House of quality". Retirement in 1983 but still works voluntarily in Tourism, for the Mental Health Station and for a coffee shop for senior-citizens. About a book by Ralf Giordano "Die zweite Schuld oder von der Last, Deutscher zu sein". Problems of the Germans with their Nazi past. Parallels: Hussein and Hitler. B’s language situation: speaks German fluently but read and wrote mostly in English, no German accent. She never really studied Hebrew. Had to leave school in Palestine after a year because she had to earn money. Acquisition of Hebrew through television and radio. Never had a profession, only jobs. Volunteered for the Royal Air Force in Egypt. Spent 2½ years in the USA because she had relatives there. Successful career. At the time of the interview she has been retired for 7 years but never stopped to work: tourist information, mental health station, group therapy, coffee shop for senior citiziens (Golden Cafe). Gymnastics classes for ; old people Arrival in Palestine: her father was a correspondent for the "Berliner Tagblatt" (The Berlin Daily) and was an engaged Zionist. To emigrate was a difficult decision. Her father went first, mother and Cary followed to Hamburg. Her father managed to get a certificate for her.
