Prof. Fruhman survived the holocaust as an orphan and came to Israel in 1949, at the age of 10, from the Netherlands. He started his academic career in pure science, getting his doctorate at Berkeley University, California. He then did research in applied science at the Hebrew University, and later was involved in the foundation of "Intel". The transition from pure scientifical research to its practical application is, in his view, most natural and contributes to economic development and competition. With the fast technological and computer development, education - and administration - must be changed from repetition to constructive thinking, with basic science as a basis. Fruhman thinks it very important for a person to change the fields of his activities, in order to become competitive. He regards "Intel" - the establishment of science-based industry - his main contribution. (Talks about why "Intel" was established in Israel.) In 1991 Fruhman became a member of the Academy of Science. The years 1971-1973 he and his wife spent in Ghana, walking a lot and getting acquainted with a different culture
