Nurse and in charge of organization in Ein Shemer immigrant camp. Yemenite newcomers who came to Israel in 1949-1950 usually suffering from difficult chronic diseases like Tuberculosis, Typhus and Dysentery. Babies were undernourished and looked like skeletons, and were suffering from diarrhea and high temperature. Dozens of them were sent daily to Hadassa Hospital in Tel-Aviv and to Rambam Hospital in Haifa. They were rushed to the hospital by Ambulance drivers who took them from the different camps and who did not know the children's number or identity. When the children were returned to the camps after several weeks their parents did nor recognize them. After interviewee took them from one camp to another and their parents were not found they were given to Wizo children's houses and perhaps taken for adoption from there. The main problem was to communicate with the newcomers in their own language and as a result the situation was rather chaotic. There was no premeditated abduction of children. The children who passed away were buried in a piece of land in Shaar Menashe anonymously. Estimating number of missing children in several hundreds but not thousands. Claiming that also matter of shaving of the side locks was as tratment for ringworm that most of the Yemenite newcomers have suffered from.
