Andreas: born in Athens, 1935, to a secular Zionist family. He and his family escaped Athens by boat for Crete, Spring 1941. When Germans occupied Crete family went by foot through the mountains to the South Coast. There they were let on an Australian ship used to evacuate British troops to Alexandria. They lived in Egypt and Palestine for the duration of the war. Describes their return to Athens and discusses some issues concerning Jewish Greeks in the 1970s: anti-Semitism and Jewish education.
