UNED Born in Stettin, 1938. One year old at outbreak of WWII and so does not remember his family. First memories are of life at Polish orphanage. From there taken to adoption by Polish farmers living in small poor village. Baptised there. At the end of the war grandmother telling him of his Jewishness. On Russian invasion family relocating to Swidnica where their condition improved. First contacts with Jews also made there and produced food and clothing packages for family. Interviewee finally transfered to Jewish childrens' house in Lodz in return for food and clothing. Living for years without a definite identity and no knowledge of his real name, parents' name or his date of birth. Attempts made to check his origins in orphanage to where he was apparently brought by his family failed, since institution was liquidated and managing priest murdered by the Nazis.
