Born in Macedonia in 1922. Member of Halutz movement. At 19, moved to Belgrade where he witnessed the Nazi invasion. He returned to his hometown in 1941 and in 1943 all the Jews were taken to a quarantine camp where they were wiped out. On the previous night the subject and nine other youths left for the Greek border to join the Greek partisans. They operated against the Bulgarians and Germans on the border. Conditions were very hard and the Macedonians were anti-Semitic. Supplies came either by air from the British or were taken from the enemy. The Greek peasants also gave help. After the group disbanded the subject joined partisans of the communist youth which operated in small units of four or five people. He was sent to a medical orderlies' course, returning home after the war as a hospital commander and immigration to Israel in 1949.
