Rescue of Jewish children from Germany through France up to World War II; work in Strasbourg as a teacher and leader of refugee children; transfer to Paris at the outbreak of War. Born in Strasbourg, 1938. Leader of orthodox youth group. Assisting refugee children coming from Germany. Some of the children absorbed in Jewish families in Strasbourg. Some of them (usually orphans) put in a couple of orphanages, one in Strasbourg and one in Haguenau. Most of the children coming from established families in Germany, and usually needed to be taught French in the Jewish elementary school. The French children in school usually coming from poor families and the gaps created a problem. Interviewee volunteering to teach Hebrew at school. Some of the refugee children unable to reach the school and studied in the "center" (youth movements center), mainly the French language. Jews who helped the refugees in Strasbourg realizing for the first time their connection to the entire Jewish nation and helping to absorb refugees socially in community. In August of 1939 interviewee in charge of summer camp of his youth movement (Aguda), but at the end of August, at outbreak of WWII, having to find a solution for children who had no families. Those children taken to Bergerac, France.
