Dr. Tuchler- retired Judge beginning of Hitler regime - active leadership in Jewish Organizations Berlin- liberal, Zionist, a-political. Describes the connections and interactions between the Jewish Community and the NS regime from the outset of Nazi coming to power till outbreak of war. Warring factions in Jewish community- very serious - the Press mentality need for unification - achieved too late. Under-cover rescue work and evasion of Nazi jurisdiction. Zionist Congress - Cracow (Cracow & Lucern 1935). Jewish spies, traitors, discovered acting for the Nazis, confronted by Reichskanzler (ex) Bauer, pro-Jewish. Attempts by leaders of Reichsvertretung to prevent all money from Jewish Fund falling into Nazi hands. Depicts strength of Berlin Jewish community fights to keep going, emigrate, resist- the despair of trying to persuade "hoodwinked Jews" to see reality and escape.
