Born 1923 in Czechoslovakia to established, religious and Zionist family. Spoke Hebrew at home. Made Aliyah with family by way of rabbi's document. Lived with father's step-brother in Mea-Seharim and studied with Rabbi Kook. During this period joined Etzel, participated in planning many missions that failed or were called off. Describes preparations and ambushes for attack on McMichael, 1944. Took part in attack, managed to escape, but later that year was caught and interrogated. Imprisoned in Latrun then transferred to Eritrea where remained four years. Failed attempts at escape. When released, returned to Israel
