Youth Movements and Agricultural Training in Poland between the Two World Wars

Orphan. Born in Bendin, studied in Polish school in morning and Cheder in afternoon. Could only afford to finish elementary school. Joined Hashomer Hatzair at age 9. Went to hakhashara in Radon with mother's blessing. Worked in Jewish owned sawmill with Polish workers. Poles learned to respect Jewish workers. Problem of employment for women in hakhshara. Not involved in Jewish community, however, one member succeeded in securing partonage of Jewish businessmen to help hakhshara with employment. Active cultural life in hakhshara. Viewed life in Poland as temporary; mainly interested in events in Eretz Israel.
