Contributors Conference on Jewish Material Claims Against Germany
Notes The term “Commemoration” is used by the Claims Conference to describe documentation of the Holocaust (“Documentation of the Jewish Catastrophe” as it is called by the Claims Conference itself). In the commemoration and documentation of the "Jewish Catastrophe", four major institutions were beneficiaries of Conference aid: Yad Vashem Authority, Jerusalem
YIVO, New York (for combined projects with Yad Vashem)
Centre de Documentation Juive and the Tombeau, Paris
Wiener Library, London. For additional details regarding the applications and allocations of these institutions see their files in the Application- and Implementation-files. Most of the correspondence in this series is by Mark Uveeler. Uveeler, who had previously worked with YIVO in New York was from 1956 until 1964 responsible for the cultural and educational program of the Claims Conference. From 1962 Uveeler was the Executive Secretary of the Claims Conference (cf. Ron Zweig, p. 132).
