Description
The file contains 24 letters, 78 postcards (all handwritten), two telegrams and one note. The letters deal with Bahr's reading tours, with the meaning of World War One for Europe, with meetings of both, and Bahr's illness, as well as with Walt Whitman, Emile Verhaeren, Lev Tolstoi, and Hugo von Hofmannsthal. Included is one handwriten copy of a letter from Bahr to Karl Graf Stürgkh, prime minister of the Austro-Hungarian Empire, asking for pardon for the Croatian poet Ivo Vojnović, 1916. On the backsides of three postcards (1927, 1929) there are portraits of Bahr.
