"החל בשנות השלושים והארבעים מופיעה "התקופה השלישית" (בעצם אין כאן תקופות מוגדרות היטב, שכן האחת פולשת אל תוך חברתה ויונקת ממנה), המזניקה את האמן לפסגת יצירתו. לצד הנופים הנאמנים לרוחו מקום מופיעים נופים של נפש נסערת, שהמראה החיצוני משמש לה רק כסות ולבוש. הנופים הצחיחים של סביבות ירושלים, על המבנים הערביים המופיעים בהם כשהם מרותקים לצלעי ההרים, מאבדים מחונריותם הפיזית ונוטלים חלק בסופה נרגשת וגורפת כל, היודעת רק את הזרימה על אותם ניירות רשת תעשייתיים, בצבעי כחול, שנהב, חום ירקרק וצהבהב, משחרר האמן בגירים ובעפרונות צבעוניים את מה שהיה כלוא, מוגדר, מבודד ומסוגר בקוציו ובגזעיו. נופי עולם-חוץ שהיה לעולם-פנים נסחפים בגיר שחור, בסאנגווין (אדמדמם), בחום ובספיה, בשטף נסער עד גבול ההפשטה, כאן משחרר קרקואר את כל מה שעמיתו, מירון סימה המנוח, תיאר פעם באזני כציורו החזיוני של אמן מופת". -- מתוך: בין שתי נשמות/ נתן זך.
