"השאלה הנשאלת בספר זה היא מהי משנתו החינוכית של רבי נחמן מברסלב? שכן הנחיצות של שאלה זו לשיח החינוכי העדכני מתבררת כגבוהה ביותר, כל זאת לאור העיסוק הגובר והולך במשנתו של רבי נחמן, הן ברובד העממי והן ברובד האקדמי-פילוסופי. בספרו לברוא יש מאין: תיאולוגיה חינוכית-ביקורתית במשנתו של רבי נחמן מברסלב מבקש פינחס לוזון לעסוק בשאלה זו. בפתח המחקר טוען לוזון שהגותו של רבי נחמן נבדלת ממערכי הגות שמוצאן בחשיבה היוונית-מערבית, בתכלית החינוכית שאותה הוא מציע – תכלית חינוכית-הגותית ייחודית אשר מיישמת מזיגה דקדקנית מאוזנת של תיאולוגיה וביקורת. על מנת לאפיין מזיגה זו עושה לוזון שימוש במונח "תיאולוגיה ביקורתית"- מונח חדשני שאותו טבע לאחרונה ד"ר יצחק בנימיני, ושבו הוא עושה שימוש יחד עם ד"ר יותם חותם - כמנסרה המסייעת בהבהרת מערכת היחסים בין תיאולוגיה וביקורת". -- מהמעטפת האחורית.
