"אפשר לקבל את הצמר בחזרה, בבקשה? שאלה עוד כבשה תמימה בקול הכי רשמי שהא הצליחה להפיק מגדונה. גיזה הרועדת עמדה בטבורה של החנות ככבשה בין שבעים זאבים, המומה ממזל הגדי שנחת עליה משמים בבקר יום עבודה שגרתי. שנים שהיא מוכרת בגדי צמר ללא כל תקלה - מעילים, חליפות, חצאיות, אפדות, סודרים, שכמיות, צעיפים, גרבים - הכל! העדר הפרוע לא חכה למוצא פיה. נחפשה צמרנו - ונשובה! פקדה רחל הכבודה. הצמר - צמרי, והבגדים בגדי. המשיכה להחציף פנים אל פניה המתכרכמות של גיזה. קדימה! קראה ללא הסוס. היא דלגה על המדף השלישי, רחרחה פה, רחרחה שם. לבסוף נטלה אפדה ורדה מחררת בעלת שני פונפונים, וקראה בספוק: מצאתי! האפדה הזו - מצמרי היא! היא דחפה את רגליה הקדמיות אל החורי המיעדים לידים, רכסה את האפדה מתחת לראשה. הביטה בספוק במראה וחיכה אל עצמה חיוך ורד. צאן מאליפות, למה אתן ממתינות? הצמר שלכן כאן - קצת למשש, קצת לחפש, שם להריח - וגזל הגז בידינו"" -- מן הכריכה האחורית.
