"מנחם זילברמן נפטר בינואר 2014 ולקח איתו סודות רבים, על חייו האישיים, על רגעי התהילה והשפל, דעתו על המדינה ומה הביא אותו לעזוב אותה לטובת אנונימיות בקליפורניה. לאחר מותו התגלה בארכיון שלו הספר הזה, בו מנחם מספר על חייו מנקודת מבטו של מוישה. במשך ארבעה עשורים מנחם היה לחלק בלתי נפרד מהתרבות הישראלית ועיצובה, הסטנדאפיסט הראשון בישראל ואבי תורת הנונסנס. הוא גם היה שחקן, תסריטאי, מוזיקאי, מפיק, במאי, קופירייטר, סקיפר ומדריך התיירים הכי מפורסם. היה שותף להצלחות הכי גדולות שהיו כאן: להקת הנח"ל, גבעת חלפון, שלאגר, כוורת, זהו זה, וגם כוכב הטלוויזיה הראשון בסדרה חדווה ושלומיק. את היומן מצאה אביגייל, בתו של מנחם, שלקחה על עצמה את שימור ארכיון מפעל חייו, במטרה לאפשר לקהל גישה ליצירותיו. תודות למאות תומכים בפרויקט מימון המונים התאפשרה הפקתו והשלמתו של ספר זה, שכמו כל יצירותיו של מנחם, נכתב בהשראת ולמען הקהל הישראלי" -- מן המעטפת האחורית.
