"סיפור אמיתי של יהודיה ברומא משולב בסיפור של אלפי יהודים" -- מן המעטפת הקדמית. ; Memoirs of a Jew born in Italy in 1939. He was hidden in a convent. His mother, Hildegard, who was living on false papers, developed a relationship with a Nazi officer in 1943, and related his conversations to a girlfriend. Hildegard did not know that this girlfriend was a member of the resistance, and passed on the information to the Americans which helped them to overpower the Nazis.
