"99410 הנו מסע חיים של שריד שואה; תיעוד אנושי והסטורי המתרחש במציאות לא אנושית, וזאת כנגד כל הסיכויים. הסיפור נע במערבולות הנפשיות של הגיבור – בין סופניות מוחלטת לאופטימיות מפתיעה – בין זוועות אדם לזכרונות מתוקים, ובמקביל למטוטלת הנפשית, נע הגיבור ברצף כרונולוגי, זוכר את הכול ומספר הכול - על השותפים למסע, את השיחות הפילוסופיות ואת תיאורי הטבע. הסיפור נפתח עם פלישת הגרמנים לעיירה פולנית. שרגא ניצברג היה נער צעיר, תלמיד חרוץ ואוהב טבע, שהפך בן רגע לעובד סנדלריה בגטו המפרנס את הוריו – מכאן יצרי ההישרדות מתחילים לפעול ביתר שאת: אלימות, רעב, עבודות פרך. צפירת רכבת המסע נשמעת – המוות הוא בעל השררה והפתרונות להינצל מגיעים ביצירתיות שעולה על כל דמיון אפשרי: פגישה עם קצין ס˝ס דובר עברית, מנדולינה תלויה על קיר, "הצרצר" של ביאליק בא לעזרתו, שרגא שורד בכדי לספר. מספר ומחייה מחדש את משפחתו, מתאר את עולמו שחרב עליו ומביא תיעוד זה על גבי המילים" -- מן המעטפת האחורית.
