Anti-Americanism and anti-Semitism

The rising anti-Americanism and antisemitism in the modern world reveal certain structural similarities and are usually connected. Having begun as criticism of some aspects of U.S. and Israeli policies, of Bush and Sharon, they became widespread phobias. Both the USA and Israel are now depicted by the right and the left, as well as by "rogue states" and their populations, as nations of war criminals. Many anti-Americanists tend to depict the USA as a state ruled by the Jews, and the Iraq war led by the USA as provoked by Jews. The theory of a Jewish world conspiracy has been revived, and it depicts the USA as the vehicle through which the Jews aspire to gain world power. Focuses on the linkage between anti-Americanism and antisemitism in present-day Germany and France. A belief that the Jews are the driving force behind American imperialism is spread in the USA itself. It is misleading to ascribe antisemitism and anti-Americanism in the West to the Muslim minority only or to dismiss them as excesses of anti-Sharon and anti-Bush criticism.
